Aquarists will work with a diverse team responsible for the implementation and evaluation of husbandry practices, routines, and protocols for daily animal care. The Aquarist position is a high energy job that requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, excellent guest engagement, and collaboration with the entire Marineland Dolphin Adventure team. In addition, Aquarists will work with all departments to achieve exhibit/education goals, participate in staff education/training, as well as meeting personal and team goals and objectives. Learn and implement the husbandry and exhibit goals and standards for the collection at Marineland Including but not limited to: teleosts, elasmobranchs, corals, invertebrates, and reptiles Learn and implement the daily operational requirements of the staff, animals, and exhibits of responsibility Prepare and administer appropriate nutrition and enrichment to meet specific animal needs Test and maintain excellent water quality for all exhibits Ability to assess animal behavior and health and report abnormalities Keep detailed records of animals and systems Participate in training, development, and review process for individual development and enrichment Work with Aquarist and LSS team to maintain the highest quality staff and exhibits Interface effectively with other departments to maintain the highest quality standards Foster working relationships with other departments and institutions Keep current on best practices to properly understand and maintain animals within area of responsibility Other responsibilities and duties as assigned

Requirements: 
Four-year degree in biology or related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a four-year degree at the discretion of MDA. Knowledge of general animal husbandry techniques across a broad range of topics (animal nutrition, behavior, training, diseases, etc.) Experience in public programs preferred. Working knowledge of life support operation and water quality control for maintaining relevant animals. Strong team skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Valid State of Florida driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one. Valid passport, or the ability to obtain one. Proficiency with Personal Computer (P.C.) hardware and contemporary software including Microsoft Office Products. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 100 feet. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Elements of the position require employees to wear a wetsuit for extended periods throughout the day. This position requires direct contact with raw seafood. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. An employee must also have the ability to travel by car, boat and air as needed, conduct field work in the collection and research of animals, and maintain daily contact with a living collection of plants and animals.
